It's been a while since we've had a smartwatch

from LG, but the company could be gearing up to face Samsung's own upcoming wearable

- the rumored Galaxy Watch - which is expected to be present at IFA 2018.

The LG devices are said to be coming as early as this month, and one of them could be called

the LG Watch Timepiece,

a smartwatch which is said to combine the smart features of Google's Wear OS with mechanical

hands that continue to tell the time even after the smartwatch features shut down due

to low battery.

This is somewhat similar to what we've seen from the TicWatch Pro, but LG's approach brings

even better battery life - a rumored 100 days exclusively in "dumb watch" mode,

or 100 additional hours of time-telling after the smartwatch side of the device runs the

battery dry.

Presumably, this would also mean that heart rate detection and other smart feature might

be completely disabled, as opposed to the TicWatch.

The Timepiece could cost around $300 and come with a Snapdragon 2100 chipset, 4GB of storage

and 768MB of RAM.

Two LG smartwatches are said to be on the way, however, and two such devices have seemingly

passed through the FCC.

With that being said, only the Timepiece has been detailed so far, so it remains a mystery

what the other device could be.

The desire of an athlete

is to participate in the Olympic games

and achieve a medal.

We all can't accomplish winning that medal.

The fact of participating in the Olympic games

is already a major achievement.

I always dreamt of it as a kid.

That is the biggest challenge each athlete has,

to go to the Olympic Games.

We have never achieved an Olympic medal so far.

And now at this moment, Cuban gymnastics

has great possibilities to get an Olympic medal.

We had it at the Olympic Games in Rio 2016,

but unfortunately our main athlete got injured

and was unable to obtain it.

I got injured three days prior to the competition.

So, when I got injured,

all the years of sacrifices I had made disappeared.

That day that he got injured,

I cried,

because I had felt a part of me has also been injured.

And to see him so sad,

for a moment, the world disappeared.

I didn't want to speak to anyone.

To see that he could not achieve that dream

that he loved.

My athletes are like my children.

All of them.

They are my family.

When it happened, there was nothing to do.

The coaches have to be strong.

A diagnosis was made.

But the risks also become greater.

There is a big risk of injury involved.

Athletes lose their teenage years,

they must act like adults when they are still kids.

One is taking a risk

of having an injury that can hurt for a lifetime.

But these are decisions that one has to make in one's life

if one wants to be a professional athlete.

One chooses want he wants just as we've chosen gymnastics.

Even though it's hard.

But it's the sport that we enjoy,

so that is why we move forward.

I have learned many things, like his will to succeed.

His strength.

I admire many values because he's made many sacrifices.

A very brave athlete.

When we compete abroad,

I feel better knowing Randy is around.

He has been my best friend since we were kids.

I can't work on the parallel bars

if he is not there to help me.

He's always there to support me.

It's good to have someone to support you,

especially your best friend.

There's always a rivalry, but among us as friends

we always move forward, regardless of who wins.

And now we are going to be like we were kids.

We challenge each other.

That way we get stronger every day

and have better results.

Gymnastics has had its ups and downs.

And now we are at an incredible moment.

We think the next Games will be much better.

Our dream is to win a medal.

We have a chance to make the dream come true.

We keep preparing. We haven't lost the faith.

We are preparing for Tokyo 2020.

Little by little, step by step,

until we achieve the medal, we will not stop.

For us, it is an immense pride and joy in that sense.

When you have limited resources,

some seek various alternatives.

You develop the intellect, the creativity,

unlike those who have many possibilities.

One enjoys it more.

When you achieve a lot with less resources than others,

it gives us a great satisfaction

to know we are at the same level

as other, much richer, countries.

LG could have two new smartwatches this year to take on Samsung ● Tech News ● #TECH - Duration: 1:44.

It's been a while since we've had a smartwatch

from LG, but the company could be gearing up to face Samsung's own upcoming wearable

- the rumored Galaxy Watch - which is expected to be present at IFA 2018.

The LG devices are said to be coming as early as this month, and one of them could be called

the LG Watch Timepiece,

a smartwatch which is said to combine the smart features of Google's Wear OS with mechanical

hands that continue to tell the time even after the smartwatch features shut down due

to low battery.

This is somewhat similar to what we've seen from the TicWatch Pro, but LG's approach brings

even better battery life - a rumored 100 days exclusively in "dumb watch" mode,

or 100 additional hours of time-telling after the smartwatch side of the device runs the

battery dry.

Presumably, this would also mean that heart rate detection and other smart feature might

be completely disabled, as opposed to the TicWatch.

The Timepiece could cost around $300 and come with a Snapdragon 2100 chipset, 4GB of storage

and 768MB of RAM.

Two LG smartwatches are said to be on the way, however, and two such devices have seemingly

passed through the FCC.

With that being said, only the Timepiece has been detailed so far, so it remains a mystery

what the other device could be.

German Scientists Just Tested NASA's EM Drive… Does It Work Now? - Duration: 3:06.

The idea of being able to get around space as easily as we get around in our cars is

a dream many have grasped at, but none have achieved so far (although not for lack of

trying: Elon, I'm looking at you).

We've covered the so-called impossible drive several times on this channel.

And according to some recent updates, it looks like it might really be impossible.

The impossible drive, also known as the EM drive, was originally conceptualized in the

early 2000s.

It's a hypothetical form of space travel that wouldn't require any fuel.

The drive works--again, hypothetically--by bouncing microwaves around a conical metal

chamber.

Conventionally, you'd need to push against the matter around you to move anywhere--that's

how physics, as defined by Newton's third law of motion, works.

You know, like the conventional rocket thrusters we have, that's how they work.

This drive, were it to really function, would break our fundamental understanding of Newtonian

physics.

And for a hot second there, it looked like we may have measured the drive working-

In 2016 a team of NASA researchers detected a tiny amount of thrust while testing the drive

in a vacuum, although they were hesitant to attribute that thrust to anything except experimental

error.

And it turns out they may have been right.

Research in this area has been largely underfunded up until this point because, as the name of

the technology states, most people think it's quite literally impossible.

But a research team in Germany just conducted an experiment with some seriously sick resources,

like an extreme vacuum and specialized shielding.

If the EM drive worked, it would mean that space travel would be significantly cheaper

and faster and more efficient...so who won?

Physics?

Or the impossible?

Definitely physics.

Physics still wins.

These latest, most sophisticated tests conclude that the tiny amount of thrust that NASA's

team detected in 2016 was most likely due to interaction of the metal drive with the

earth's magnetic field.

Even though more teams around the world will probably continue to verify this work by conducting

tests of their own, it would seem that for the most part, this spells RIP for the EM

drive dream.

But, just to cover all their space bases, the team also looked into a different kind

of drive called the Mach Effect thruster, whose concept assumes that if a mass vibrates

enough, it interacts gravitationally with the rest of the universe.

This drive, made out of a stack of piezoelectric crystals attached to a mass of brass (which

is fun to say), showed a little more promise in tests from the German lab.

The researchers still concluded that any thrust detected from these tests is most likely interference,

or noise from the rest of the physical world interacting with the set up.

So, that's our latest update on the state of the EM drive.

A little disappointing that we won't all be jetting around space on vibrating crystals,

but the researchers make a good point at the end of their paper, saying that these experiments

were highly educational in that they required very demanding experimental conditions, and

this will help them in testing further potentially-transformative space drives.

Ah, humans.

Thulsie twins' sister pleads for her brothers two years after their arrest.

Salomi McKuur‚ the sister of the Thulsie twins‚ has come out to support them two years after their arrest.

The boys‚ Brandon-Lee and Tony-Lee‚ were arrested in July 2016.

They have been charged with conspiracy‚ incitement to commit the crime of terrorism and conspiring and attempting to commit acts associated with terrorist activities.

Their case was postponed in May until July 31 after the state said it was not yet ready to proceed.

The judge warned at the last appearance that the time was approaching when no more delays or postponements would be allowed.

In an article released by Cage - an NGO which describes itself as " an independent grassroots organisation striving for a world free of injustice and oppression.

We campaign against discriminatory state policies and advocate for due process and the rule of law" - McKuur writes about the twins' arrest.

She says she rushed to the family's house on that day‚ and originally saw police tape and thought the house had been broken into – or worse.

After getting past police‚ she saw her mom sitting on the couch "in tears".

She asked what was going on‚ but at first got no answers.

Then‚ she said‚ her mother told her.

"They took him‚" she quotes her mom as saying.

"I had to beg them to give him a jacket." She writes that her mother was humiliated by police as they raided the home that she shared with Brandon.

Meanwhile‚ at the cottage that her other brother Brandon-Lee shared with his wife‚ police conducted a similar raid.

"This was the worst day of our lives and we will never forget it for as long as we live‚" she writes.

She continues in the Cage "Human Voices" article‚ that the family feels let down by South Africa's justice system.

"Now‚ two years later and after numerous court appearances‚ numerous requests by our lawyers for the state to produce evidence to justify the continued detention without trial of my brothers on various allegations of terrorism‚ we feel let down by our justice system.

"We are heartbroken that our brothers have so far not been treated fairly.

Prison conditions are poor‚ though not as bad as in other countries.

They have requested and received Qurans.

But we are frustrated that it is okay that whoever is in charge will allow this to go on for two years with no conclusion‚" she writes.

McKuur continues that ordeal has taken particular strain on their mother.

"Mum is here physically‚ but she is not the same.

She has constant pain in her eyes.

She lives for a Friday‚ when she is able to see her boys.

Come rain or shine‚ she makes sure that she packs them the food she can afford‚ and she attends every prison visit.

"She's been in and out of doctor's rooms and the diagnosis stays the same: Stress.

She's had breakdowns‚ even in public.

This breaks my heart‚" she writes.

In her heartfelt post‚ she issues a plea: "I would like to say to South Africa‚ and especially the media‚ that everyone deserves a fair trial.

This is our constitutional right.

But‚ so far‚ this endless procedure and imprisonment mean my brothers' rights have been violated." She continues: "Why for anyone else would this treatment not be okay‚ but for them it is okay? Is it because they are Muslim?".
